@article { , title = {The new crimes of bribery in Scotland.}, abstract = {Introduction. The Bribery Act 2010, enacted in the wash-up prior to the dissolution of Parliament, will completely change in the Scots law on bribery. As discussed in The Crime of Bribery in Scotland 2009 SLT 1 by present author a number of criticisms have been directed at the previous law and practice on bribery. These relate to the opacity of the law itself and its apparent conflict with the United Kingdom's international obligations. In regard to the latter, the OECD stated in a report published in October 2008 that it was ...disappointed and seriously concerned with the unsatifactory implementation of the Convention [on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions] by the UK. The continued failure of the UK to address deficiencies in its laws on bribery of foreign public officials and on corporate liability for foreign bribery has hindered investigations. Both the objective deficiencies of the law on bribery and its putative non-conformity with international law are addressed by the Act.}, issn = {0036-9314}, issue = {2}, journal = {Scottish law gazette}, note = {COMPLETED -- Doc rec'd from contact 16/6/2017 LM -- Chased 12/6/2017 LM -- Paul has promised to check for the document 10.05.2017 GB -- Asked Paul if he still has his AAM or should be mark this as Completed - Rejected, if no answer by next report cancel 9/5/2017 LM -- Sent chaser 4/4/2017 LM -- Sent email to secretary@slas.co.uk 6/3/2017 LM -- Sent 2nd request via online form 6/2/2017 LM -- Requested permission from via online form 10/1/2017 LM -- Info from contact via JW 10/1/2017 LM ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Arnell, Paul}, pages = {42-45}, publicationstatus = {Published}, publisher = {Scottish Law Agents Society}, url = {http://hdl.handle.net/10059/2392}, volume = {78}, keyword = {Bribery Act, Scots law, Bribery, UK}, year = {2010}, author = {Arnell, Paul} }
