@article { , title = {Building intercultural competence through virtual team collaboration across global classrooms.}, abstract = {By means of a cross-cultural virtual teams project involving classrooms in Scotland, Germany, and Portugal, students were exposed to the challenges of collaborating internationally with the intention of increasing their intercultural competency. Intercultural sensitivity and intercultural communication competency were measured using responses to surveys before and after the 6-week project. Students reported, among other aspects, a heightened awareness of the difficulties of intercultural communication. Despite a general appreciation of the project and its outcomes, negative results such as an increased dislike of intercultural interaction emerged. Contradictory results warrant further investigation with data from future collaborations.}, doi = {10.1177/2329490619878834}, eissn = {2329-4922}, issn = {2329-4906}, issue = {1}, journal = {Business and professional communication quarterly}, note = {INFO COMPLETE (Now published, checked and updated LM) PERMISSION GRANTED (version = AAM ; embargo = no embargo ; licence = re-use restricted by publisher licence - https://uk.sagepub.com/en-gb/eur/posting-to-an-institutional-repository-green-open-access 01.07.2019 GB) DOCUMENT READY (AAM rec'd 18/10/2019 LM) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION = Izzy Crawford ; Extention2018}, pages = {57-79}, publicationstatus = {Published}, publisher = {SAGE Publications}, url = {https://rgu-repository.worktribe.com/output/315209}, volume = {83}, keyword = {Virtual teams, Intercultural competence, Business communication}, year = {2020}, author = {Swartz, Stephanie and Barbosa, Belem and Crawford, Izzy} }
