Biography Mike is a lecturer in the Human Resource Management team, contributing to both undergraduate and masters modules.

He joined RGU in July 2014, following 25 years as an HR practitioner across the Public, University and Charity sectors.

His most recent role was Head of HR for ENABLE Scotland, a social care charity. While with ENABLE he designed and implemented its first coherent HR Strategy, implemented a Business Partner model and overhauled the Organisation’s policies and procedures framework.

Prior to that, he was the HR Director at Glasgow Caledonian University and was responsible for all areas of HR Activity, including Recruitment and Selection, Pay and Reward, HR Operations, Industrial Relations, Health and Safety and Occupational Health. He also implemented the University’s first Business Partner model.

Mike's experience in the earlier stages of his career included HR Manager with Scottish Natural Heritage and Deputy HR Director at Stirling University. He also held a number of unpaid directorships with not-for-profit organisations.
Teaching and Learning Mike is currently Module Coordinator for BSM849 Employee Relations: Voice and Participation.

Prior to this, Mike has has been Module Coordinator for the following modules:

Work & Organisational Behaviour (undergraduate)

Knowledge into Practice: Creating & Maintaining Engagement (postgraduate)

People, Policy & Practice (undergraduate)

Mike has also contributed to teaching of Health & Safety related modules at undergraduate level.

Mike was also part of the team that has created the latest iteration of the MSc in HRM which was launched in 2022.
