Dr Sherly Meilianti
Biography | Dr Sherly Meilianti, FRSS, FHEA is a pharmacist, educator, and researcher with over eight years of experience in global pharmacy workforce development, education, and health systems strengthening. She currently serves as a Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy Practice at Robert Gordon University, where she contributes to teaching, research, and programme development within the School of Pharmacy. Her academic background includes a PhD in pharmacy workforce development and a distinction-awarded MSc in Clinical Pharmacy, both from the UCL School of Pharmacy. Her doctoral research focused on the development and implementation of an advanced competency framework for pharmacists in Indonesia. She is also a registered pharmacist in Indonesia. Before joining RGU, Dr Meilianti held the role of Data and Intelligence Specialist at the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). In this capacity, she led global needs assessments, coordinated the FIP ATLAS data platform, and contributed to key international publications, including the FIP Global Advanced Development Framework. She also served as interim Programme Lead for the MSc in Advanced Pharmacy Practice at UCL. An active contributor to the global health community, Dr Meilianti has served as President of the FIP Young Pharmacists Group and as a Steering Committee Member of the WHO Global Health Workforce Network Youth Hub. She also currently contributes to global pharmacy initiatives through several voluntary roles, including Global Lead for FIP Development Goal 11 – Impact & Outcomes, Member of the FIP Technology Advisory Group, and Editor of the FIP Pharmacy Education Journal. She has authored over 19 peer-reviewed papers and contributed to more than 29 global reports. Her work has been recognised with several awards, including Best Paper in the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Outstanding Alumni from the University of Indonesia. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and the Royal Statistical Society (FRSS). Teaching and Learning | My teaching focuses on global health, clinical pharmacy practice, and applied therapeutics, with an emphasis on preparing students for patient-centred roles in diverse healthcare settings. I contribute to curriculum design, assessment development, and module delivery across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have experience coordinating a postgraduate pharmacy programme (MSc Advanced Pharmacy Practice at UCL) and supervising student research projects. My teaching approach is shaped by my background in global workforce development and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education. I aim to support students in building both technical knowledge and critical thinking skills, using case-based learning, interprofessional teaching, and real-world examples. |
