Biography Dr Goua has been the academic strategic lead for biological science at the School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences since 2016 and has been working at RGU in various roles since 2003. She is in charge of the strategic direction for the provision of biological science and nutrition related courses and contributes to various University and School committees (teaching and learning, research and ethics).
She is the School’s representative for the Scottish University Life Science Association (SULSA) for the understanding and treating disease theme and is a visiting lecturer at the University of Granada, Spain.
As a molecular biologist and chartered biologist, her key research interests include nutrient-gene interaction, cardiovascular disease and cancer in relation to inflammation. She is also interested in novel anti-cancer compounds and nutrient extracts from agri-waste product.
She is a fellow of the higher education academy and her academic role extends from lecturing duties to module coordinator and year tutor as well as admission tutor. Until recently, she was an external examiner for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University. Dr Goua also is actively involved in widening access to higher education and student recruitment in Scotland and Europe.
