Dr Peter Atorough

Biography Dr Peter Atorough is lecturer in operations and supply chain management, with additional responsibilities as module coordinator for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the MBA. Prior to joining the Business School in 2008, Peter enjoyed a successful career as an investment and corporate banker specialising in oil and gas corporate investment solutions, before moving on to business development with the then Abbey Bank Plc. Peter was the project manager and main researcher for the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Robert Gordon University and Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, during which time he undertook sector based research and business process mapping to provide a tool for evidence-based decision making for businesses in North-east Scotland, directly contributing to the creation of Visit Aberdeen, Union Square and Aberdeen BID.
Peter describes himself as an applied management generalist and this is reflected in the diversity of qualifications and experience that he brings to the Business School. His PhD in Marketing examined the interaction with Internet marketing operations and an aspect of consumer characteristics; he is professionally qualified as a Prince 2 Project Management Practitioner and APMP qualification as well as membership of APICS-the association for operations management ; in addition to practical operations management experience gained from industry, he has successfully contributed to research and teaching at the business school through the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA courses.
