Abstract
The event was the third "3 Generations of Women Artists Perform" (3G) event, hosted as part of Perth Theatre and Concert Hall's celebration of International Women's Day 2018. The event opened with a curated screening of video artworks by European women pioneers from the 1970s and 1980s. Following on from this was a rare performance talk by Elaine Shemilt, responding to her own early video artwork "Doppelgänger" (1979-81). This was in turn followed by a talk on feminist video performance in Europe, delivered by Laura Leuzzi. The event closed with site-specific performances by students of contemporary art practice at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD, University of Dundee), led by the artists Richard Layzell and Pernille Spence. The event was co-curated by Laura Leuzzi, Iliyana Nedkova and Pernille Spence, and archival support was provided by Adam Lockhart. The event was co-produced by Horsecross Arts, the AHRC-funded project EWVA European Women's Video Art in the 70s and 80s, and DJCAD.
