Abstract

The smart home with all its possibilities and functions has not yet established itself in the private living environment. The reasons for this are multifaceted, with aspects of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) playing a crucial role. This article analyzes user interface properties and psychological factors of users, as well as non-functional factors of the system, based on the current guiding concept of HCI, user experience. The presentation of example projects aims to demonstrate that an extended, HCI-oriented approach can be a key factor for the future success of the smart home concept.
