Abstract

Our paper explores the improvements needed navigating the building standards and in workflows for building warrants completion processes in Scotland. We examine this optimization with a user experience, information and data flow lens, under the directive of improving the service provided to citizens by the Scottish government. We used the development of a web application and a digital process map as vehicles for engagement with our audience, developing the knowledge for improvements and optimization through social sciences qualitative methods. The paper concludes with a discussion and proposals for improvement into the process including the use of linked data, BIM, Ontologies and blockchain in an upgrade of the process.
