This conference paper presented the main results of the comparative analysis of newspaper coverage of two controversial coastal developments in North East Scotland: the building of a North Sea gas reception terminal at St. Fergus in the 1970s; and the creation of Donald Trump's golf course at Menie, from 2006 onwards. The presentation focused on the press coverage and portrayal of opponents of the two developments, considering the influence this may have had on public perception of the two projects.
