Abstract
Neonatology is a quite new discipline which has been developed at the same time that the tecnology evolution. Nowadays is possible to revive babies who would have died without any possibility of help just 30 years ago. But, what happens then? In the mayority of theses ba bies, the after effects comes from a long stay in hospital. In order to avoid them, Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assesment Program (NIDCAP) has been developed recently. The NIDCAP is based in some points that are analized in this article: environment and postural care, activities concentration, parental involvement in caring, pain relief, breastfeeding and kangaroo care. NIDCAP is set up as caring method to improve the quality of newborn caring, but it is only the first step for an optimal development in these childrens.
