Biochemical adaptations in early starvation: observations on sex difference. (1978)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
BROOM, J., FLECK, A., DAVIDSON, D.F., ROSENBURG, C. and DURNIN, J.V.G.A. 1978. Biochemical adaptations in early starvation: observations on sex difference. Proceedings of the Nutrition Society [online], 37(3), page 92A. Available from: https://doi.org/10.1079/PNS19780048

Twenty-two students, eleven male and eleven female, volunteered to fast for 3 d. Twenty-four hour urine collections were obtained over the period of study, and total nitrogen, urea, and 3-hydroxybutyrate (3-OH-butyrate) were determined in each.

Helical flow of non-Newtonian fluids, with reference to drilling fluid flow. (1978)
Thesis
MORTON, J.D. 1978. Helical flow of non-Newtonian fluids, with reference to drilling fluid flow. Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology, MPhil thesis. Hosted on OpenAIR [online]. Available from: https://doi.org/10.48526/rgu-wt-1993278

This thesis Is motivated by a desire to understand better the complex flow of drilling fluids in oil wells. After an initial discussion of the flow and its complexities, mathematical models are considered, and a 'helical flow' model adopted as being... Structure activity relationships of 1,8-disubstituted thioxanthenones. (1978)
Thesis
BECKET, G. 1978. Structure activity relationships of 1,8-disubstituted thioxanthenones. Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology, PhD thesis. Hosted on OpenAIR [online]. Available from: https://doi.org/10.48526/rgu-wt-1993230

Lucanthone, a thioxanthenone bearing a diethylaminoethylamino substituent, is orally active against Schistosoma mansoni infections in man. The structure-activity relationships of lucanthone and related compounds have been extensively investigated and... Fault-tolerant digital machine design. (1978)
Thesis
MITCHELL, R.B. 1978. Fault-tolerant digital machine design. Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology, MPhil thesis. Hosted on OpenAIR [online]. Available from: https://doi.org/10.48526/rgu-wt-1993246

This thesis describes the work of the author towards an M. Phil, degree in the field of Fault-Tolerant Digital Machine Design. As a preview, fail-safe machine design is discussed in detail, and various new design techniques are presented. The fundame... Read More about Fault-tolerant digital machine design..

The preparation of racemic and optically active beta-amino-acids and their utilisation in peptide formation. (1978)
Thesis
MTETWA, E. 1978. The preparation of racemic and optically active beta-amino-acids and their utilisation in peptide formation. Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology, PhD thesis. Hosted on OpenAIR [online]. Available from: https://doi.org/10.48526/rgu-wt-1993212

B-Amino acids are being isolated from biologically active peptide antibiotics with increasing frequency nowadays. Recognition of the importance of these amino acids, has led to their incorporation into synthetic peptide analogues and into polymers. T...
