Biography Caroline Hood is a Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Applied Social Studies. Her PhD focussed on the organisational, practical, and social influences on the implementation of cycling-specific policies in Aberdeen. Her work is located within the sphere of mobilities and emphasises the discourses of cycle-users and policy-makers. Caroline also undertakes road safety research, with a focus on vulnerable road users.

Caroline sits on both the Road Safety North East Scotland Lead Officers’ Group and the Transport and Public Health Subgroup for the region’s Health and Transport Action Plan. She is also a member of Transport Scotland's Road Safety Framework Local Partnership Forum for the North, and the Older Road Users' Group.

She is currently Project Lead at RGU on the Horizon 2020 URBANOME project ( https://www.urbanome.eu/),

Caroline has also undertaken evaluation work on behalf of Police Scotland in connection with the Rider Refinement North 2022 initiative, and is a recipient of funding from Transport Scotland's Road Safety Evaluation Fund for the project "Safety in Numbers".

She currently holds the role of Diversity and Inclusion Advisor with Scottish Adventure (https://www.scottishadventure.org/).

Teaching and Learning Caroline is Module Coordinator for the following modules:
SS1050 Understanding Social Change
SS3036 Environment & Society
SS3082 Community, Citizenship & Employability

Caroline also contributes to teaching on the MSc Social Work degree.

She is responsible for the supervision of Stage Four dissertation students on the Applied Social Sciences degree and has the role of Year Four Tutor.

She also participates in the teaching of the ENM616 Socially Responsible Management module to students in the School of Engineering.

Caroline is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
