Dr Laura Leuzzi

Biography	Dr. Laura Leuzzi is an art historian and curator. Currently she is a Chancellor Fellow at Gray's School of Art. She is the author of articles and essays in books and exhibition catalogues, with her research focused on art and activism, socially engaged art, early video art, European video art histories, art and feminism, and new media. Her research has been published in books by Bloomsbury, Routledge, Gli Ori, University of Krems, and Heidelberg University. She is co-editor of REWINDItalia \| Early Video Art in Italy (2015), EWVA European Women’s Video Art in the 70s and 80s (2019), and Richard Demarco, the Italian Connection (2021). She has curated exhibitions, screenings, and performance events in Italy, the UK, and Switzerland, including The Showroom (London), The Nunnery Gallery (Bow Arts, London), MAXXI Museum (Rome), MACRO Rome, Walcheturm (Zurich), CCA (Glasgow), Summerhall (Edinburgh), Lethaby Gallery - Central Saint Martins (London), Visual Research Center - Dundee Contemporary Art, Threshold artspace at Perth Concert Hall and Theatre, Nomas* Projects (Dundee). From 2018 to 2021 she was the Research Fellow and Co-Investigator on the AHRC-funded research project "Richard Demarco: The Italian Connection" (DJCAD, University of Dundee). From 2019 to 2021 she was also Co-Investigator on the RSE-funded research project Digital Art and Activism. As part of the activities of the network she co-chaired the Re@ct: Social Change Art Technology symposium, 2019 part of NEoN Festival, held at V&A Design and other venues in Dundee and co-edited a special edition of the journal Media-N, The Journal of the New Media Caucus. Since 2021 she has co-chaired the international post-graduate conference "Prospectives" part of SGSAH International Summer School. Prior to that she was PDRA on the AHRC funded projects REWINDItalia (2011-15) and EWVA European Women's Video Art in the 70s and 80s at DJCAD, University of Dundee. She completed her PhD at Sapienza University of Rome in 2011. From 2021 to Summer 2023 she was a Researcher at Sapienza University of Rome. Her essay '"She became my teacher and mentor". Uncovering the legacy of women video pioneers in Art Schools and Academies in Europe’ was awarded a top prize by the Feminist Art in an International Curriculum organization.
