Emma graduated from Robert Gordon University with a BSc First Class (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy. In 2017, she started her career as a Physiotherapist with NHS Grampian, completing junior and senior rotations in a variety of settings including inpatients, general and cardiothoracic surgery, musculoskeletal outpatients, medicine for the elderly, community and stroke rehabilitation. In 2019, she successfully applied for the position of Specialist Acute Care Physiotherapist in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). This coincided with the global Coronavirus pandemic and Emma became a frontline physiotherapist based in the COVID Intensive Care Unit and wards. With ARI being the only ECMO centre in Scotland, she gained experience providing cardiorespiratory care and rehabilitation to critically unwell patients from across the country. In January 2022, Emma returned to Robert Gordon University, joining the School of Health as a Lecturer in Physiotherapy. Alongside her full-time academic role, Emma continues to maintain her clinical skills as a Bank Physiotherapist for NHS Grampian, delivering cardiorespiratory care as part of the Acute Physiotherapy Hospital at Night service at ARI.
