Biography Andrew is a knowledgeable legal professional with expertise in data protection, privacy, and technology law. He is a part-time lecturer within the Law School and works as Solicitor (Data Privacy) at Burness Paull in the Technology and Commercial team. Prior to his current role, he held the position of global head of data protection at John Menzies plc.

In addition to his professional work, Andrew is pursuing a doctorate at the University of Dundee.
Research Interests Andrew is a well-versed specialist in data protection law with a strong focus on the evolving global data protection legislative landscape. Recently, Andrew has been dedicating his efforts towards exploring the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in this field, especially with the emergence and democratisation of generative AI.

Additionally, Andrew's doctoral thesis delves into the responsibilities of the Data Protection Officer as outlined in the EU GDPR, and the concept of professionalism within this role. Currently, he is actively researching the utilisation of artificial intelligence in judicial decision-making processes.
Teaching and Learning Cyber and Information Security Law, Legal Technology and Compliance; particularly focussed via online delivery.
