Biography Susan is an HR professional with experience across a range of sectors and locations and has an academic interest in the world of work.

Susan originally completed an undergraduate business degree and has since worked in various HR related roles across a range of sectors and locations. Throughout that time, Susan continued her academic studies, completing an MSc in Mindfulness Practice and then a PhD. Susan's MSc dissertation explored what type of leadership engages people during significant organisation change. Susan was Head of Employee Engagement at Wood Plc at the time when they were acquiring Amec so the research was very timely.

Susan took a career sabbatical from her role of HR and OD Manager at the Net Zero Solution Centre to transfer from part-time to full-time study so that she could accelerate the completion of PhD. The research question was “To what extent, if at all, are people flourishing while working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic?” This was a case study exploring the experiences of office workers in the UK energy industry who are working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020 and 2021. PhD was defended successfully in August 2022.
