Biography Arwa Al Jumaily is a Lecturer in Architecture and Architectural Technology at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment.
Since September 2022, she has also served as the Course Leader for the Graduate Apprenticeship in the Built Environment programme.
She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (ACIAT).
Arwa holds a BSc in Architecture from the University of Technology, Iraq, and an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from the University of Wolverhampton, England.
She brings extensive experience as a project manager and technical expert in advanced façade technology, gained through her work in the UAE.
Arwa contributes her technical expertise across the Architecture, Architectural Technology, and Graduate Apprenticeship programmes.
Research Interests Fire Safety in Design – Pedagogical Research
Façade design and technology, and automated installation
Building and Facades performance, sustainable materials and how they can work and contribute to building performance and sustainability. LCA, BIM, LCC etc.
Teaching and Learning Arwa has a solid track record of teaching undergraduate architecture programs, Architectural Technology, and the Graduate Architecture programme. She demonstrates particular expertise in architectural design, construction, and building technology. Within the GA program, she also contributes to the teaching of construction and design management.
With over a decade of professional experience in façade technology, spanning technical design, construction, and project management, Arwa brings valuable industry insight to her teaching. She is well-equipped to support design studio modules with technical input and leads teaching in building technology, building services, and construction-related subjects.
Arwa also supervises dissertation modules across various master’s programs within the school, including final-year dissertation projects for Year 4 GA students.
Her current research interest focuses on the pedagogy of fire safety in design education, an area she is actively exploring to enhance teaching practices and curriculum development.
