Biography Lyndsey Gilmour works as a Lecturer and early-career researcher in Painting at Gray’s School of Art.
Gilmour studied MFA Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art, London (2014), and BA (Hons) Painting at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen (2010).

Awards include; Lyon and Turnbull Award for Painting, RSA Latimer Award, The William Coldstream Prize, Dewar Arts Award, Pocock Award and Scottish International Education Trust Award.

Recent Selected Exhibitions include: ‘Tentative Formations’, solo exhibition at Patriothall Gallery (2022), ‘Painted Conversations’ with Peter Chalmers at Whitespace Gallery (2022), ‘Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibition’ (invited participant, 2022), ‘Creekside Open’ curated by Sacha Craddock APT Gallery (2019), ‘Fully Awake 3:5’ curated by Sean Kaye and Ian Hartshorne, Dyson Gallery (2018).
Research Interests Since 2021, Painting Lecturers and Early-Career Researchers, Lyndsey Gilmour and Peter Chalmers, have been working in collaboration under the title ‘Painted Conversations’.
This project tests the potential of visual dialogues between practitioners in advancing contemporary painting practice in Scotland. It focuses on a sharing of knowledge, by inviting national painting practitioners to engage in a two-way visual dialogue. By engaging in each other’s research questions, it seeks to contribute to the discovery of individual and shared solutions.
