Biography Chamath Palihawadana is a research assistant in the School of Computing at RGU with focus on providing AI as a service on web platforms. During his time he has contributed towards a Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) international collaboration project on student mental wellbeing and an industrial collaboration project on environmental sustainability promoting circular economy funded by The Oil & Gas Innovation Centre (OGIC). He also founded an innovative attendance automation solution for RGU using mobile technologies (Attendr). He has a strong proven track record in building innovative products and services. Chamath is an Oracle Certified Professional and has experience heading the technology arm of the co-founded startup ‘SurfEdge’ for over 4 years and further an year in the software industry. He obtained his bachelors in Software Engineering with first-class honours from the University of Westminster.
Research Interests Chamath's research focus is in Artificial Intelligence with particular focus on Federated Learning, also referred to as privacy preserved edge-device machine learning. Chamath also has an interest in cloud computing and its applications for intelligence systems.
