Research within the School of Health Science is built on strong foundations of education and practice-based research. The school has built up a vibrant research community in partnership with the NHS in Scotland and other universities, hosting multi-disciplinary research that focuses its activities on addressing major issues around the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, care and welfare of patients - often in collaboration with RGU's Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Applied Social Studies, and Pharmacy and Life Sciences.

Areas of particular interest include:

Physiotherapy - Low back pain use of smart technology; musculoskeletal rehabilitation;
Ergonomics - Anthropometry and ergonomic safety;
Biomechanics - Gait analysis;
Substance misuse;
Statistics - Modelling of athletic and sport performance;
Sport Science - Decision making in coaching.
