Abstract
Accurately estimating the state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH) of lithium-ion batteries is crucial for the safe operation of electric vehicle battery management systems (BMS). This paper proposes an improved grey wolf optimization–double adaptive extended Kalman filter (GWO-DAEKF) algorithm based on a temperature-dependent second-order RC equivalent circuit model (TD-2RC-ECM). To improve the modeling accuracy of lithium-ion batteries, this paper establishes TD-2RC-ECM based on the electrical characteristics of batteries under different temperature conditions. Then, an innovative grey wolf optimization search mechanism centered on double adaptive extended Kalman filtering was proposed to reduce the impact of noise interference and measurement defects, achieving high-precision co-estimation of SOC and SOH for lithium-ion batteries. Finally, the feasibility of the algorithm was verified under complex working conditions at − 5℃ ~ 35℃. The absolute error of SOC estimation under the hybrid pulse power characteristic (HPPC) test and Beijing bus dynamic stress test (BBDST) conditions is kept within 2.5% and 1%, respectively. The absolute error of SOH estimation in HPPC and BBDST conditions is lower than 1%. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has accurate state estimation performance and high-temperature adaptability.
