Abstract

This painting was exhibted at "Fully Awake 3:5", an exhibition curated by Ian Hartshorne and Sean Kaye. This was a group exhibition featuring work by 36 artists and celebrating the intergenerational relationships formed by teaching painting in UK art schools. The curators invited 12 artists to submit a piece of work, and each artist then invited two further guest artists to exhibit alongside them; an artist they have been taught by and an artist they have taught. Lyndsey Gilmour was one of the invited artists, exhibiting this work ("End of Part 1") as an exploration into working out with a rectangular support, to give the wall a more visual role rather than a purely functional one. Lyndsey's invited guest artists were Karin Reggaber (Lyndsey's personal tutor during her MFA studies at the Slade School of Fine Art) and Izzy Thompson (one of Lyndsey's first students after she began teaching at Gray's School of Art, RGU). "Fully Awake" is a five-part cycle of exhibitions, of which this is the third iteration. The exhibition was held 3-14 September 2018 at the Dyson Gallery, London.
