Abstract
The aim of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of photocatalysis using a continuous-flow reactor with immobilised TiO2 on glass tubes and a UV-A light. The effect of flow rate and hydrogen peroxide addition on the efficiency of cyanotoxin removal (microcystin-LR and cylindrospermopsin) were evaluated. Photocatalysis experiments were conducted in a lab-scale flow-through immobilised photocatalytic reactor, equipped with four UV-A lamps in an illumination box. The quantification of microcystin-LR and cylindrospermopsin was performed by high-performance liquid chromatography, using a Waters Alliance 2695 solvent delivery system. Hydrogen peroxide concentrations were analysed using a spectrophotometrical method. This dataset contains a single Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheet with tables showing the results of flow rate optimisation, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) optimisation and the photocatalysis experiments.
