His areas of practice included property, construction, commercial and aviation law. He obtained a PhD in Construction Dispute Resolution from the University of Wolverhampton, and has since held several academic positions in the Law School including course leadership of the LLM Construction Law and Arbitration programme, and until recently, the Research Degrees Coordinator position with responsibility of overseeing the School's PhD programme. Joseph also has research interest in contract law (standard forms of contract, use of the contractual process to facilitate dispute resolution, smart contracts etc.); construction law -(procurement of major infrastructure projects, construction dispute resolution - construction adjudication, use of DABs etc.); dispute resolution, particularly in the areas of international arbitration with a focus on Africa; and technology in construction and dispute resolution generally.
