Biography Moira has worked as a Personnel and Training Manager as a freelance Trainer and HR Consultant in the Hospitality and Oil and Gas Industries, and as a Further Education lecturer. Since completing her MSc in Human Resource Management, Moira has worked at The Robert Gordon University as a lecturer in the Human Resource Management Department. She was Programme Manager for the Specialist Masters programmes offered by the Department of Management and prior to moving to an ad hoc position was Academic Strategic Lead for the Department of People Organisations and Practice. She has a particular interest in the improvement of student awareness and competency in relation to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

She has served as a committee member and CPD Advisor of North of Scotland and Islands Branch of the CIPD.

She is a licensed user of Thinking Styles, a metacognitive psychometric instrument which can be used as a management, team building or developmental tool, and she has qualifications in Coaching and Workplace Mediation. She successfully completed a Doctor of Education programme at Stirling University. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma (with merit) in Counter Terrorism Studies from Liverpool John Moores University and a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the University of Saint Andrews.
Research Interests My particular research interests, and the focus of my doctoral research, are CPD, Non-formal Learning and Professional Development. The title of my Educational Doctorate thesis is 'Developmentalism from here to there - is heutagogy the way there for HR?

I have recently completed working on a research project funded by the Office for Veterans Affairs, UK Cabinet Office to identify ways to assist charitable organisations in overcoming barriers and improving access to services for female veterans. This work is to provide evidence-based recommendations for policy and practice. This is an area about which I am passionate and in which I have a personal interest. I am looking to conduct further research in other areas concerning UK veterans. I am currently working on 2 evaluation projects for 2 separate Veterans' charities.
Teaching and Learning Moira has been, while working in the University, involved in the development, delivery and management of Undergraduate, Post Graduate and On-line programmes, and has delivered post graduate teaching in Kazakhstan. Previous to working in the University, she spent 16 years as a Further Education lecturer delivering courses to a wide range of diverse groups including school leaver, graduates, managers, school children and prisoners.
