Dr Dave Clark
Biography | Dave completed a BSc (Med) (Hons) in Sports Science (1988) and a MSc (Med) in Exercise Science at the University of Cape Town (1998). He worked in high performance sport for over 20 years’ as an S&C coach, applied sports scientist and performance manager. He served as national team fitness coach for both the Springboks (South African National Rugby Team) and Welsh National Rugby Teams. He spent 13 years at Sportscotland Institute of Sport as Head of S&C where he supported athletes that performed and medalled at summer and winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games and European Championship. More recently, he managed the Fitness department within the professional game at the Irish Rugby Football Union. They were crowned Six Nations Champions on two occasions during his tenure. He was a founding board member of the United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) and is an Accredited S&C Coach. Dave completed his PhD in 2018 at the University of Stirling in neuromuscular physiology, investigating trunk muscle activation in variations of the back-squat exercise. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He spent 5 years at Liverpool John Moores University as a Senior Lecturer leading and teaching on the Strength and Conditioning MSc. |
