Biography Thomas graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2005 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiology and Sports Science. During his time as a graduate assistant at the University of Stirling, he completed an MPhil examining Dietary Carnitine as a potential modulator on insulin sensitivity, with a large focus on diabetes prevention. He is currently completing a PhD via public output at RGU in Talent ID and Development pathways in elite youth football.

A successful coach and performance practitioner, he holds a UEFA A License, BWLA accreditation, is an FA Accredited Trainer and is a BASES Accredited Sports Scientist (Physiology Support). His consultancy work includes Kilmarnock FC, Hibernian’s male and female squads, Rangers FC and the SRU.

Thomas joined RGU in July 2018 after a period in healthcare contributing to the development and health and well being of AXA PPP Healthcare. He currently consults on RGU Wellness together with other external partners.

Prior to this he spent almost 12 years at the University of Stirling, taking a lead on the high performance scientific support offered to the University’s scholarship athletes and external partners. During this period Thomas was Falkirk FC first team and Academy Head of Sports Science, lead S&C coach on the Tennis Scotland National Youth Programme and Performance Manager with the Scottish FA’s National Performance Centre for Women’s Football. He worked extensively with the Women’s A Squad through successful UEFA and FIFA campaigns and supported the development of Scotland’s elite female footballers. He counts world ranked tennis players, international golfers and commonwealth and Olympic medallists amongst the athletes he supported and managed as part of the International Sports Scholarship Programme.
