Dr Robert Lothian

Biography	Rob has a background in mathematical and theoretical physics, with his doctoral research being in theoretical solar physics. He has since applied his skills to fields as diverse as materials science and medicine. Prior to joining RGU, he worked at the universities of St. Andrews , Manchester (then UMIST), Imperial College (London), Ulster and Central Lancashire. Since joining RGU in 2002, his main research area has been in computing, mainly areas involving text, such as sentiment analysis. His research has been largely dormant since REF 2014, as RGU has been deploying his talents in other ways.
