Biography Dr Ali Rohan is a Research Fellow at the National Subsea Centre, Robert Gordon University developing automated tools for subsea inspection. His research interests and expertise are in robotics, AI, computer vision, image and signal processing, machine learning, control, and automation. He has several years of research experience in various engineering domains, including biomedical, electrical, and electronics. He has a strong research background in developing autonomous solutions for applications such as ecosystem monitoring, behavioural analysis, disease detection and prognosis, condition monitoring, and smart manufacturing.

Previously, he worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham, UK. Contributing to achieving Net-Zero dairy emissions in the UK, he focused on developing AI and computer vision-based autonomous behaviour recognition and associated disease detection models for livestock. Before that, he worked as an Assistant Professor at Dongguk University, South Korea. He focused on developing intelligent machines for industrial AI and manufacturing digitisation and assistive technologies for surgeons in helping total knee arthroplasty (TKA). He earned his doctorate from Kunsan National University, South Korea. His PhD work was on creating autonomous drone systems with abilities to hear and see for tasks such as surveillance, search, and rescue.
