Dr Hossam Eldessouky
Biography | Dr. Hossam Eldessouky is an experienced Manufacturing Engineering lecturer and researcher with over 18 years of combined experience in academia and industry. He currently serves as a Lecturer in Advanced Manufacturing within the School of Computing, Engineering and Technology at Robert Gordon University (RGU), UK. He brings a wealth of expertise in manufacturing processes, advanced engineering systems, and quality assurance. Dr. Eldessouky holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath, UK, an MSc in Industrial and Management Engineering (2010), and a BSc in Industrial and Management Engineering (2006), both from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, Egypt. His strong research portfolio focuses on key areas such as Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, precision machining, and the integration of smart systems in modern manufacturing environments. His academic career includes lecturing roles at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (EG) and at Sharjah Maritime Academy (UAE), where he also served as director of the training workshops complex. Dr. Eldessouky is highly skilled in curriculum development and academic assessment, with a proven ability to design and deliver robust, industry-relevant engineering programs. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, fostering student success and academic excellence. Before his academic appointments, he held significant industrial roles at El-Nada Plast for Plastic Recycling in Alexandria, Egypt, where he worked as a Production and Maintenance Engineer and later as Vice Manager. There, he led large teams, resolved complex production and maintenance challenges, and implemented operational improvements. Dr. Eldessouky is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), an interim Chartered Engineer (CEng), and an active member of both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). He holds several professional certifications, including: Black Belt Lean Six Sigma, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, IOSH Managing Safely, Manual Handling Safety/Awareness, Work Equipment (PUWER) Safety. His work continues to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial practice, shaping the next generation of engineers and contributing to the advancement of modern manufacturing. |
