Biography Alöna Roitershtein is an Early Careers Researcher at Robert Gordon University, working as a Research Assistant at RGU Orkney and Aberdeen Business School. With a keen interest in Northern and Arctic tourism, particularly in cold-water archipelagos, her research is rooted in the concepts of place, community, rurality and islandness, and their unique manifestation in each tourism destination, creating distinct sustainability needs, values and success definitions.
Research Interests Sustainable tourism development; island studies; human geography; social sustainability; Scotland studies.
Teaching and Learning Supervised MSc research projects in tourism studies. Lectured in tourism modules, such as Tourism Product, Tourism Destination Development, Leisure Tourism, Marine and Wildlife Tourism and Sustainable Tourism.
