| Biography | Simon Burnett is Professor of Information Management in the School of Law and Social Sciences at RGU. Prior to his academic career, Simon worked in the private sector designing and implementing online information systems. Simon was director of the RGU Centre for Knowledge Management from 2000-2008, providing KM-related research and consultancy services to a range of public and private sector clients including the United Nations, BP and the NHS, amongst others. He was Associate Director (External) of the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science from 2013-2016. In 2020, he was awarded a KTP with Dean's of Huntly. In 2024, he was awarded funding from the Leverhulme Trust to conduct the first systematic literature review on the subject of Dark Knowledge. His research focusses on dark knowledge; the use of disnormative applications of information and knowledge; the use of narratives in knowledge sharing, the development of knowledge-based strategies; and information landscapes. He has supervised over a dozen doctoral students to completion, and has acted as an external examiner for Northumbria University, University of Aberdeen, University of Sheffield, Edinburgh Queen Margaret University, Liverpool John Moore’s University, Aberystwyth University, Loughborough University, and University of Borås (Sweden). |
