Biography Rachael is an Associate Professor and Course Leader on the BA (Hons) Events Management course at Robert Gordon University.
Research Interests Dr Rachael Ironside is an Associate Professor in Aberdeen Business School. Her research explores the relationship between the supernatural, dark tourism, heritage and culture, and how this impacts our experience and understanding of the world. She has experience working as a PI and Co-I on national and international funded projects and has published widely on the role of social interaction and extraordinary experience, and the intersection between folklore, dark tourism, and place. She is co-author of Making Sense of the Paranormal and Folklore, People and Place: International perspective on tourism and tradition in storied places.
Teaching and Learning Rachael is Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Events Management course and co-ordinates modules in the conceptual areas of events, tourism and sociology. She also co-ordinates the live event modules. In addition, Rachael supervises undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students, and has experience teaching in an international context.
