Biography | Katrina joined RGU as a Lecturer in Psychology in 2002 and was appointed Course Leader on the MSc Applied Psychology in 2016. She is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE, a Chartered member and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and an Auroran of the Advance HE Leadership Foundation. |

Research Interests | Katrina's research interests lie in the areas of mental wellbeing and cognitive decline. She completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) focused in Cognitive Decline in individuals with Alzheimer's Disease in 2002. Current research interests include predicting and enhancing mental well-being amongst various populations (e.g. older adults, those with Dementia, students, women who miscarry, pregnant women, menopausal women in the workplace, midwives, and prisoners). Such work aims to enhance support provision, practice, education and policy. She has presented widely on this topic and has 29 peer reviewed publications. She has supervised 8 PhDs to completion. |
Teaching and Learning | Katrina teaches and coordinates a number of Psychology modules on the BA (Hons) Applied Social Science and MSc Applied Psychology including cognitive, sport, health, biological and organisational psychology. She is skilled in curriculum enhancement, innovation in teaching and assessment, and student support initiatives. Current projects involve developing an evidence-informed escalation and signposting pathway for student support and exploring the link between student engagement and academic progression. Katrina is the Course Leader for the British Psychological Society Accredited MSc Applied Psychology. |
