Merit Research on Border Urbanism
2023 - 2024

Description Won a Merit Award from the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD) at the Urban Design Awards 2024 for his research on Border Urbanism. The Urban Design Awards are held every two years and recognise urban design-related projects with outstanding performance and contributions to urban design. Upon winning the award, Dr Zaman said; “Winning a Merit Award for the Border Urbanism initiative is recognition for the university as well as well as me. The subject of border urbanism reminds us of the current condition of war and aggression that demonstrate that researcher should go deeper into the meaning and consequences of displacement and migration.”//

Description Fulbright fellowship allowed to discuss the deeper observation, datasets and conditions in which Asian extreme urbanism operates. This includes studies on building bylaws and the increasing density of the inner cities in Asia. Besides seminars, I have organised two public exhibition - one in Cornell University and second in Pennsylvania State University.
