Biography | I joined the University in January 2005 after a brief spell in industry as a development chemist. Before that I was employed at Edinburgh Napier University as a researcher in organo-medicinal chemistry. I was educated at Edinburgh Napier University where I gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Chemistry and a PhD in Anti-Cancer Medicinal Chemistry. I am a Chartered Chemist and a Fellow of The Royal Society of Chemistry. During my time at RGU I have progressed from a postdoctoral research fellow (2005), Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Since (2006), Senior Lecturer (2010) and then a school senior leadership role from 2014 (initially Teaching Group Leader for Chemical Sciences which then changed to Academic Strategic Lead; before taking up my position as Associate Dean for Economic, Social and Cultural Development). |
Research Interests | Dr Kay's research interests lie in the areas of medicinal, organic and pharmaceutical chemistry. |
Teaching and Learning | I have taught across most of the pharmaceutical, chemical, and analytical science UG and PGT modules in the school. I offer UG and PGT projects in small molecule drug design and structural elucidation. I am currently an external examiner at Edinburgh, Napier University and have been one at institutions including: University of Strathclyde, University of Ulster, University of Central Lancashire, University of Wolverhampton, and Liverpool John Moores University. |
