Biography Dr Yakubu joined the School of Engineering at RGU in 2016 as a doctoral researcher in Engineering and started teaching in the subsurface module in January 2019. Dr Yakubu has a bachelors from Nigeria and a Master from the Teesside University in Middlesbrough with a distinction in 2012.

Prior to joining RGU, he had worked with the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd in Nigeria on contract basis from 2013 to 2016. This has given a robust practical exposure to the day-to-day operational challenges in the oil and gas sector and prompted his research idea to explore approaches to mitigates these challenges.

Dr Yakubu is a Chartered Engineer, Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy. He is also a director of a limited company in Scotland and a consultant in the area of analytics, big data and machine learning and has worked as independent contractor in the health sector and energy industry. In 2021, Dr Yakubu received a Global Talent endorsement from the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Dr Yakubu is a Microsoft certified data Analysts amongst other IT certifications and has published several academic papers in various journals and conference proceedings of repute. Dr Yakubu is a registered member of several professional bodies including the Society of Petroleum Engineers; the IMechE, the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining; and the Aberdeen Formation Evaluation Society.
