Project Description

At present, there is no legal onus for digital heritage collections to be accessible to people who use assistive technology - historical material is exempt from this. In practice, this means that the overwhelming majority of digitised heritage collections in the UK are inaccessible to users who need access features built in to the sites in order to use them. Hosted by Imperial War Museums (IWM), this project seeks to find pathways and methods of improving access to digital heritage collections, both wholly online, and in archives and libraries where readers are required to use computers to access digitised holdings.
