Dr Suhail Attar
| Biography | Suhail Attar is a Lecturer in the School of Engineering at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland. In his current role, he is teaching modules in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing to BEng and Graduate Apprenticeship students. Suhail has got diverse teaching, research and research administration experience at different reputed national and international institutions. He worked as a Research Grants Consultant on a World Bank funded project titled “Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP)” prior to joining Robert Gordon University. He also worked on a European Commission funded project “ICONIC” as a Marie Curie Researcher at Queen’s University Belfast. Furthermore, he took teaching roles at Capital University of Science and Technology and National University of Science and Technology in Islamabad, Pakistan. During these roles, he taught Mechanical Design modules and played a vital role in transitioning to Outcome Based Education at his host institutions which resulted in the accreditation of those programs by “Washington Accord”. His professional work experience also spans research in the design and development of aerospace structures at a national research institution and international academic research experience in fibre reinforced composites and polymer nanocomposites. |

| Research Interests | My research interests are fatigue life prediction of composites, processing and mechanical properties of polymer nanocomposites, energy absorption and crashworthiness of polymer nanocomposites, process-structure-property relationships of polymer nanocomposites and design and analysis of composite structures. |
| Teaching and Learning | I am involved in teaching BEng and Graduate Apprenticeship modules in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing. I have taught Introduction to Design, Materials and Manufacture module to stage 1 students. I have also taught Mechanical Engineering Design 2, Computer Aided Engineering 2 and Engineering Analysis 4 modules to stage 2 and stage 4 students. I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. |
