Biography Dr Elliot Pirie is the Associate Dean for Academic Development and Student Engagement for Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) School of Creative and Cultural Business (CCB), with overarching responsibility for our taught provision, student experience and international partnerships. He has held roles previously as: an Academic Strategic Lead for International Developments, Postgraduate Provision, Commercialization, and as the Subject Team Lead for Marketing; Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader; Lecturer; and Research Assistant. Elliot is a member of the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Committee, and previously of the Academic Regulations sub-committee Teaching, Learning and Assessment sub-committee, for the Robert Gordon University.

Dr Pirie's teaching experience is broad ranging from research, business and marketing strategy, consumer psychology through to tourism, events, fashion management and live music management from undergraduate through to postgraduate, MBA and doctoral supervision.
His research interests align with RGU's priority themes of Pedagogy; Living in a Digital World; and Inclusive and Creative Societies, with his PhD focusing on online consumer psychology, specifically the influence of haptic information on consumer decision making, and more recent activities focusing on a range of pedagogical developments in both online and offline contexts, and heritage storytelling.

Dr Pirie is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is / has held positions as an external examiner for the University of Hertfordshire’s TNE INTI Malaysian programmes, University of West London’s London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism undergraduate provision, Edinburgh Napier University's undergraduate Marketing provisions, University of Huddersfield's Tourism, Hospitality and Events undergraduate provisions, University of Chichester's TNE H-Farm Italian Business undergraduate provisions. and as an external panel member for validations at University of West of Scotland and Northumbria University.

Dr Pirie has extensive experience in leadership of teams and subject areas, new course development, transnational education (TNE) and validation events from both an internal and external perspective, including his leadership of the validation and launch of Scotland’s first BA(Hons) Digital Marketing, co-ordination of RGU’s Swiss partner programmes with the Benedict Schule in Zurich and Lucerne and has work with various accrediting bodies including the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Digital Marketing Institute (DMI) and Digital Marketing Association.
