Based on previously funded initiatives, The Orkney Folklore Trail, which worked with local storytellers, musicians and illustrators, this project responds to challenges and opportunities within the Orkney community caused by tourism. It does this through the creation of an app using GPS technology to disperse tourism from overcrowded ‘hot spots’ on the island. It offers an increased experiential offering of rural areas and engaging visitors and locals with the diverse stories, heritage and culture of the island encouraging visitors to explore the islands folklore trail and ‘unlock’ stories.
