Abstract

These two linocut prints, entitled "Discourse Composition 1" and "Discourse Composition 2", were created as the result of a workshop held on the 10-11 June 2024, funded by the University of Aberdeen. This workshop explored themes surrounding the energy crisis and brought artistic research methodologies to the forefront. Researchers with interests in energy and the environment were brought together with members of the local arts community to foster imaginative means of research and collaboration. During the workshop, a group of artists with experience of researching Aberdeen's entanglements with oil and gas were invited to share their creative methodologies, offering new perspectives for non-artist researchers who are investigating energy transitions through other lenses. These artists then produced creative outputs in response to the workshop, including these two A1-sized prints by Callum Kellie. The outputs were then disseminated in the form of a poster presentation at an event in September 2024.
