Interdisciplinary workshop: creative approaches to the energy crisis.

Abstract

This poster was authored by Alejandra Rodriguez-Remedi (University of Aberdeen), and includes depictions of creative works contributed by various artists, including Maja Zećo and Callum Kellie (both Robert Gordon University). The poster was presented at an event in September 2024 alongside the original creative pieces that it depicts. These creative works were the result of a workshop held on the 10-11 June 2024, funded by the University of Aberdeen. This workshop explored themes surrounding the energy crisis and brought artistic research methodologies to the forefront. Researchers with interests in energy and the environment were brought together with members of the local arts community to foster imaginative means of research and collaboration. During the workshop, a group of artists with experience of researching Aberdeen's entanglements with oil and gas were invited to share their creative methodologies, offering new perspectives for non-artist researchers who are investigating energy transitions through other lenses. These artists then produced creative outputs in response to the workshop, with the results disseminated in this poster presentation.
