Project Title Swarm Building: a distributed system for automating low-emission construction using UAVs
Project Description This PhD study investigates the automation of low-emission construction assets, using a swarm of UAVs and light-weight modules, considered as a distributed system to develop the capacity to build structures in an automated deployment manner.
This study aims to create a dynamic system, (including blending architectural design, software prototyping methods and engineering of distributed systems), that adapts itself when the number of agents or the environmental conditions change.
The recruitment mechanism to recruit a certain number of robots will begin when a UAV detects a new mission or realises that the previous mission must be changed. This multi-agent approach is used to distribute tasks equitably between UAVs and modules that makes the swarm more flexible and durable.
